Associate Producer, Interactive Media

Are you searching for a media job with meaning? Come join Maryland Public Television as an Associate Web Producer with our Interactive Media team! MPT's online environment includes the station web site mpt.org – managed with the Drupal content management system (CMS) – and the PBS national web site for MotorWeek, public television's automotive magazine. You’ll help support these web sites by collaborating with other departments to create, develop and edit web content including copy, images and graphics. You will also support the station's online video streaming player by managing the video assets (video production skills not required) along with supporting content including images and text files.

The candidate we seek is able to work independently on multiple projects, possesses strong production and communication skills, and has some design experience. Time management and prioritization abilities are critical, as is an understanding of and passion for the mission and values of public television.

We require a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of 2 years experience in HTML, PhotoShop and Content Management Systems – Drupal preferred. Web development ability is a plus, especially experience in FLASH, Java Script, and/or PHP.

We offer an excellent State of Maryland benefit package that includes medical, dental and prescription options, 401K options and a generous leave program. Salary $39,400.00 to $44,700.00 based on experience.

Director, Procurement

We have an immediate opening for an experienced procurement professional to manage the entire procurement process at Maryland Public Television. Working as the lone procurement professional, this position will conduct the entire procurement process and research, develop, modify and write bid specifications for a variety of interesting broadcast-related procurements and will represent MPT at the Maryland Board of Public Works meetings. Will also manage procurements for the MPT Foundation, Inc., a separate 501c(3) non-profit that is affiliated with Maryland Public Television. Will conduct pre-bid conferences and review and respond to appeals to any part of the bid process. Will modify and implement processes related to MPT’s procurement processes, ensuring compliance with applicable State rules and regulations. Will develop and conduct procurement training for staff and ensure that all individuals involved in the procurement process are fully trained.

We require a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance or a related field from an accredited college or university. In addition, five years professional experience in procurement administration, including three years of experience at the management level in contract management and negotiation is necessary. The ideal candidate will have solid State of Maryland procurement experience which provided expertise in CoMar as it relates to the procurement function.

Professional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

Any of the following certifications are highly desirable: Certified Public Manager from the National Association of Purchasing Management; Certified Professional Contracts Manager from the National Contract Management Association; Certified Public Purchasing Officer or Certified Professional Public Buyer from the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. or National Association of State Purchasing Officers).

Desktop Publisher, Part Time, Contract

MPT outreach activities, especially relating to education, arts, culture and history, take place in all areas of the state to further fulfill MPT's mission to engage, enlighten and entertain the citizens of Maryland.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Desktop Publisher to work with our team of talented Membership professionals. On an as needed basis, the DP will design and produce a variety of print materials such as the monthly program guide, newsletters, flyers, brochures and ads in support of our fundraising and community outreach efforts. Will collaborate with staff in a variety of departments to determine overall appearance of print products and edit samples and obtain final approval of layout and content prior to production. Will provide in-house production of materials as well as manage vendor relationships for large productions.

We require an Associate Degree in Graphic Art, Computer Science or a related field (Bachelor's preferred) and at least 3 years of experience with print materials as a desktop publisher, production artist or graphic artist. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Expertise with Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, In Design and Acrobat required.

This is a part time, contract position. Salary: $16.25 /hr. Candidates selected for interviews will be asked to bring work samples and demonstrate ability on Mac, scanners and color printers.

Telephone Fundraising Representatives

We are currently seeking Telephone Fundraising Representatives to join our team of talented professionals. MPT's telephone based fundraising program offers part-time, flexible positions for persons with outstanding telephone skills, some telemarketing or fundraising experience, and a friendly, outgoing personality! Our representatives contact members and other donors to explain the benefits of membership and to solicit membership, renewal of membership or other donations. These are part-time, evening, contractual positions starting at a rate of $8.00/ hour plus bonuses.
