Clickety Clack Christmas Trains
Maryland Public Television popular holiday special returns
OWINGS MILLS, MD: Maryland made history when the nation's first
passenger train pulled away from Baltimore's Mount Clare station in 1830,
and the public has been fascinated by the railroad ever since. Now, this
fascination comes to life as Maryland Public Television (MPT) explores
the modern day love affair with trains in an award-winning 60-minute holiday
special, Clickety Clack Christmas Trains. MPT's joyous celebration
of the railroad in Maryland airs Saturday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m. and
Sunday, December 23 at 7:00 p.m..
Today this love affair with trains is especially apparent during the
holiday season, when Christmas-themed trains of every scale take over
the snowy landscape. Part nostalgia, part history and part travelogue,
Clickety Clack Christmas Trains appeals to the armchair explorer,
the historian and hobbyist. From an antique steam train loaded with children
on a joyride with Santa to intricate model train gardens Clickety Clack
Christmas Trains explores a passion that intrigues all ages.
Among the fascinating stops are a visit to the nation's oldest passenger
station at the B&O Railroad Museum in Ellicott City. Viewers also
ride back in history aboard a legendary steam locomotive on The Western
Maryland Scenic Railroad, and on The Northern Central Railway, tracing
the same route Abraham Lincoln took to deliver the Gettysburg Address.
Hop aboard The Baltimore Zoo Choo for an enchanting excursion through
Candyland, glistening with half a million sparkling lights. Peek behind
the scenes and discover how a Christmas Garden is created at The Shops
at Kenilworth. And follow the yellow brick road to Oz in a whimsical garden
at Baltimore's Glen Avenue Fire Station.
Videocassettes of Clickety Clack Christmas Trains are available
for purchase for $19.95 plus tax and shipping by calling (800) 873-6154.
