MPTs Bob the Vid Tech is out and about in December
A final 2001 Vid Kid Road Show and a First Night Annapolis

OWINGS MILLS, MD: Maryland Public Television's marvelously entertaining, successful "Vid Kid Road Show" makes its last 2001 stop at Westview Mall's Value City Court in Catonsville, Maryland on Saturday, December 15. Show times are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The colorful, lively performances feature Maryland Public Television's Emmy Award-winning children's host Bob the Vid Tech (comic/actor Bob Heck), and his partner-in-fun, Brianna the Camera Operator (Parris Lane.) Both are available for meet and greet sessions at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Be sure to bring a camera!

What Maryland family wants to miss the most exciting night of year? "First Night Annapolis" offers a pleasant, safe, and affordable way to celebrate the New Year. And this year, "First Act" afternoon performances for the young and young at heart feature Bob the Vid Tech in a live, solo show between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., featuring lively songs and audience participation. Vid Kid contestants get to demonstrate their knowledge of favorite PBS programs like Arthur, Sesame Street, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat and Dragon Tales, in "The Great Vid Kid Quiz."

In a world of commercially-centered children's programming, MPT is driven by a sense of urgency to fulfill our mission to "educate, entertain and enlighten the people of Maryland - and beyond - through creative programs and services of the highest quality."

MPT KidWorks, launched in July 1999, includes initiatives that expand beyond the current broadcast of more than 50 hours of educational, commercial-free children's programming per week over six channels. Initiatives include appearances by MPT talent around the state, an upgraded children's area on its Web site, the Vid Kid Club and community outreach. MPT also maintains a permanent exhibit area - MPT StudioWorks - at Port Discovery in Baltimore.
