MPT. This is bigger than television
This isn't your father's welfare system -
MPT and DHR partner to produce TV series
OWINGS MILLS, MD: Sometimes even the most industrious of families
need a little help - that's the thrust of a new television series, Hard
Working Families, which will air monthly on Sundays at 7:00 a.m. beginning
January 13. Each episode will repeat the following Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
Co-produced by the Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR) and Maryland
Public Television (MPT), the half-hour series will look at the variety
of services that are available through DHR to help citizens improve the
quality of their lives within Maryland. The program will explain how citizens
can qualify for and access these services, which range from adoption to
energy assistance to programs for the elderly.
Each themed program features video packages and personal stories of individuals
who have changed their lives for the better by using DHR services. The
series creates an awareness of the variety of services and programs available
through DHR and that these services are for any citizen, not just for
the abject poor.
Keith Snipes is host of the series. Everett L. Marshburn is executive
producer. Beth Nardone is producer.
Please visit www.mpt.org for more information on Hard
Working Families.
Maryland Public Television is a not-for-profit, state-licensed public
television station which serves the citizens and communities of Maryland
and beyond through a variety of broadcast and nonbroadcast activities.
