Maryland Public Television's 2013 Veteran's Day concert will be a terrific regional production for the Baltimore/Washington markets that continues the station's annual theme of saluting men and women in uniform in our armed forces. The program will pay tribute to all branches of the military and will feature some dazzling talent along with short vignettes of our veterans to show the rich history and experience of our nation's armed forces.
This year's program will feature one of Baltimore's most remarkable talents, Darin Atwater, best known for his role as conductor and composer of Soulful Symphony. The musical program will be produced from MPT's High Definition studios, and continue to feature a mixture of classic favorites from the U.S. Air Force Band, the orchestra, and the Airmen of Note. Hosted by Washington's WRC newsman Aaron Gilchrist, there will be rousing patriotic favorites and also contemporary hits that the public loves. Last year's luminaries included American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, and the powerful vocals of Irish Tenor Anthony Kearns.
Each year's honored veterans are selected from each of the five branches and demonstrate the courage and heart these individuals bring to their often very difficult jobs. This year's selection of heroes are particularly stunning and will inspire all Americans with their valor and self-sacrifice.
America's Veterans: A Musical Tribute continues to be a perennial favorite and has elevated the holiday experience for our audiences. It generates a new and greater level of appreciation, and the concert promotes a better understanding by the public of the role and purpose of our men and women in uniform.
