Penny Knobel-Besa is a playwright, director, producer, and an award-winning photographer. In 1991 she was named Maryland Photographer of the Year by the Maryland You're Beautiful Program and received a national award from the Big Sister/ Big Brother organization for her photography. She has been a press photographer and enjoys creating unique digital and studio portraits and teaching the "Art of Photography."

Jeffrey Sharkey
Pianist, Composer, Music Educator
Pianist, composer and veteran music educator Jeffrey Sharkey became director of the Peabody Institute on September 1, 2006. Before coming to Peabody, Sharkey had been dean of the Cleveland Institute of Music since 2001, serving as the chief academic officer of its college division. He was director of music at the Purcell School in London from 1996 to 2001 and head of composition and academic music at Wells Cathedral School, also in England, from 1990 to 1996.

in Sweet Charity at The Hippodrome Theatre
Sweet Charity is currently onstage at Baltimore's Hippodrome theatre through April 22. The multi-talented cast is headed by Molly Ringwald as Charity Hope Valentine, the sweet and ever-optimistic dance hall hostess. Fans will remember Ms. Ringwald from her classic films Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. But she also has delighted audience on Broadway with her turn as Sally Bowles in Cabaret and in her national tour here in Sweet Charity. Rhea is delighted to welcome her to Artworks This Week to talk about the role and her varied career. Sweet Charity runs at The Hippodrome through Sunday April 22.

American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA)
International Aerospace Art Exhibition
This week's Salon art is from the American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA) International Aerospace Art Exhibition. Opening May 7, the exhibit will take place at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport through September 7. During this time the ASAA will hold its 21st International Forum at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport on May 6-12, 2007. This event is expected to attract aviation and aerospace artist from all over the world. The ASAA is dedicated to the improvement and public appreciation of aviation and aerospace art. One of the organization’s main goals is to bring together artists who share a deep interest in documenting aviation and aerospace history for the enjoyment and education of the public and other artists, and to exchange ideas for the betterment of the profession.
