Isabel Klots and the MICA Artist Residency Program

Rochefort en Terre, Brittany, France

Château de Rochefort Alfred Klots and his son Trafford were successful Baltimore painters who acquired a chateau in France. For most of the past century they created wonderful work on both sides of the Atlantic. Today, Trafford's widow, Isabel, continues the tradition by sharing the Rochefort en Terre chateau with American painters, under the auspices of MICA. She joins us today, along with co-founder Rob Seyffert, to talk about it.

Also, watch the ArtWorks special "Drawn to the Light: Portraits of Baltimore & Brittany" on May 2nd at 7:30pm.

Chesapeake Bay Week on MPT

featuring the performance of Tom McHugh

Chesapeake Bay WeekThe beauty and majesty of the Chesapeake Bay have always been an inspiration to Tom McHugh. With fellow musicians Bill Matthews and Andy McCown, they formed the "Chesapeake Scenes" group, and their songs extol the wonder of this great natural resource. Today Tom and Bill join us to perform "The Chester River Song" in honor of Chesapeake Bay Week on MPT.

Towson Artist's Group

Salon Art

Towson Artists GroupThis week's Salon Art is from the Towson Artists Group, which is an open art collective that meets once a week. This collection of talented professional and emerging artists presents its first group show at the Towson Framing Gallery. The show offers the public a chance to see and purchase high-quality yet affordable original paintings and drawings in a variety of media and is available for viewing until May 19. The Towson Artists Group organized in March of 2006 by Andy Holzopfel. The Group includes members from all over Maryland, including Baltimore and Annapolis. “I wanted to create a relaxed environment where anyone could spend time developing their art,” says Holzopfel. “From beginners to lifelong artists, everyone is welcome.” While the Group’s weekly sessions focus exclusively on the human form, the show will feature work covering a wide range of subjects. Artists participating in the show include Holzopfel, Gretchen Anderson, Joanna Barnum, Rebecca Cason, David Diaz and Gil Jawetz. For more information, call 410-323-2192.
