David Duggan
Antique Furniture Restoration and Conservation
David Duggan specializes in restoring and conserving fine antique furniture. We had the opportunity to visit and watch this man work and it was a real treat to see someone enjoy his work so much. Really fine antique furniture, made some 200 years ago before the Industrial Revolution, are works of art. These pieces were made by hand by craftsmen artists who took great pride in making tiny adjustments to veneers that ensured that they would stand the test of time. David receives these pieces from collectors and museums and examines each one as its lines and veneers and stained shadows from missing pieces tell him what needs to be done to make them whole and gleaming again. The process takes time and it's not inexpensive but these treasures from the past are well worth the investment and interest. They're in good hands when they get to David's studio.

Betrayal
Everyman Theatre
Harold Pinter's play Betrayal is currently on view at Baltimore's Everyman Theatre. This three-person play has had audience members talking for years and this stylish production, directed by Donald Hicken, is doing just that. Rhea is pleased to welcome Donald Hicken and one of the production's stars, Deborah Hazlett, to Artworks this Week to talk about this multi-faceted play. Betrayal runs at Everyman through June 24.

Salon Art
Ginny Kuhn, Photographer
This week's Salon Art is by Ginny Kuhn. Ginny Engleman Kuhn is an Annapolis native and as a child, she snapped photos with her beloved Brownie Hawkeye camera. She progressed to single-lens reflex cameras and her own darkroom. Her favorite work was a photographer's greatest challenge, black and white photography, which she determinedly mastered. Ginny evolved as photography evolved, from film to digital photography. She took college courses in digital imagery and has spent thousands of hours not only mastering the new technologies of the photographic world, but also molding them into her own style. While many take advantage of basic digital imagery, Ginny's foundation as a film photographer allows her to produce truly unique, exciting, and vibrant works of art.
Ginny's artwork has recently been exhibited in 3 solo exhibits, the most recent at Maryland Federation of Art. Her photograph, "White Dory," was a prize winner at MFA's juried "Moveable Feast" exhibit. Her work has also been exhibited at Maryland Art Place, the Queenstown's Tri-Centennial Celebration, the Baltimore Flower Mart and the Hilton Garden Inn of Kent Narrows. Recently, she was accepted in the very competitive Quiet Water's November Juried Exhibition.
Ginny Kuhn's photographs can be found at two galleries: The American Craftworks Collection in downtown Annapolis (hours are 10-6pm, Mon.-Sat. and 11-6pm, Sun.) and the gallery of Remax Executive in Millersville, MD. Ginny provides personal tours of her photographs at the gallery in Millersville. If interested, you may call Ginny Kuhn at 410-544-0261 or 410-570-8888 or email her at ginnykuhn1@verizon.net.
