An ArtWorks This Week Special

Joseph Sheppard: Artist

Self Portrait by Joseph SheppardArtist Joseph Sheppard is one of Maryland's treasures. His work, paintings and sculptures, are held by major institutions and private collections around the world. It's been a joy over the past several years for Artworks This Week to check in with this fine artist to talk about his work—the teachers who have influenced him, and the students whose art careers he's helped to launch. He's even taken the time to lead us through a private painting-by-painting tour of one of his latest exhibits. We've noticed a fascinating progression of thought in these interviews and have taken this opportunity to put it all together and share it with you. So join us we go back into the vaults for a visit with Joseph Sheppard.

NOTE: The exhibits that are discussed in this program have all run their course in area galleries, but isn't it nice to enjoy them once again on tape? Also interesting is that this summer Joseph Sheppard is hard at work in his studio in Italy, working on a life-size statue of Pope John Paul II, to be installed at some future date in his home town of Baltimore.

ArtWorks This Week is made possible by the members of MPT. Thank you for your generous support!
