Greg Mort
Artist
Greg Mort's creative roots stem from his love of nature. Born near Syracuse, New York where he hiked and camped as a young person, he developed a life-long fascination with the outdoors, night sky and the study of astronomy. He was captivated and wanted to express the beauty of the natural world he so enjoyed. From the beginning he took his painting materials everywhere. Then as now, he continues to draw directly from life with no limits to his interests and subject matter. A collection of his work is beautifully pulled together in Voyages: The Explorations of Greg Mort. The art book is available through Sea Glass Publishing.

Amy Lin
This Week's Salon Artist
At first glance our salon walls appear to be stamped with circles. Not so. The Salon art this week is by artist Amy Lin, and each and every circle that you see is hand-drawn. In her solo exhibition show entitled, Silence, Ms. Lin exhibits thousands of her hand-drawn dots. For Ms. Lin, each dot has a personal affect. She states, "I usually think of them as being people-from far away we all look the same, but up close we're all unique." From the Washington Post to television's White House Chronicles, Ms. Lin's dots have been creating quite the buzz. We catch her at the end of her exhibition but wanted to make sure you knew about this chance to see the Silence collection. It's on display at Heineman Myers Contemporary Art, 4728 Hampden Lane, Bethesda. The exhibition runs through December 23rd and gallery hours are Wed.-Fri., 1-6pm, Sat., 1-7pm and Sun., 1-5pm. For more information, you can contact Heineman Myers at 301-951-7900.
