Body Worlds 2
and the role of the Anatomy in Art History
People and artists have always been fascinated with the human body, especially with what lies beneath our skin. Both Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo studied the human body, alive and dead, to accurately depict it in the masterworks they are renowned for. A new exhibition has opened in Baltimore entitled "Body Worlds 2" and ArtWorks examined it from an artistic perspective. "Body Worlds 2" runs six months at The Maryland Science Center through September 1st.

Maryland Arts Day
Close to 500 artists and arts organization representatives from across the state converged on Annapolis on February 7 for "Maryland Arts Day. Sponsored by Maryland Citizens for the Arts, the event celebrates the state's vibrant arts community and provides an opportunity for arts supporters to meet with elected officials to advocate for state arts support. A chorus from The Soulful Symphony and a young Montgomery County violinist provided entertainment. During the advocacy training portion of the program, mime Mark Jaster offered a lighthearted illustration of lobbying "dos" and "don'ts." MPT's Nate Howard attended the event, which is covered in our "Art Chat" segment.
