A Performance by Manuel Barrueco
Grammy-nominated Classical Guitarist
Manuel Barrueco is a Grammy-nominated classical guitarist. His dedication to bringing the classical guitar to the main musical centers of the world has propelled him to international status and made him one of the most important guitarists of our time. Three decades of concertizing has taken Mr. Barrueco to many venues around the world including Venice, Madrid, London, Korea, Brazil and Hong Kong. His performances have crisscrossed the United States and he has appeared many times with prestigious orchestras, such as the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Collaborations with other musical royalty have yielded genius compositions with such notables as Placido Domingo, Al Di Meola and Chick Corea. His CD, "Solo Piazzollo" received a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance(without orchestra). "Tango Sensations," his release in 2008, contains premiere recordings of Manuel's arrangements of the same. But even with all the exciting buzz around Mr. Barrueco's music, he continues to satisfy his penchant for teaching, particularly other gifted guitarists at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD.
