Voices of Baltimore: Black, White and Gray

Thalia Jamison

Originally from New York City, Thalia Jamison, moved to Baltimore over 13 years ago to start her own business. The AirForce veteran employed local residents and kids from the neighborhood – many of whom faced financial hardship - to run her store as a way to give back to the community. During the riots, looters ransacked her store when the curfew went into effect.

The community raised money to help get the store up and running again, but it has since burned down due to an electrical fire. Though she and her employees are temporarily displaced, she plans to stay in Baltimore and rebuild.
