Voices of Baltimore: Black, White and Gray

A mother of two, Nimoya Fairley has lived in Baltimore all her life, and in West Baltimore for almost a decade. When her neighborhood became a militarized zone in 2015, she and her youngest son often walked past and spoke to the officers that were stationed there.

Voices of Baltimore: Nimoya

Nimoya says that although Freddie Gray’s case was tragic, it is “nothing new” to her. She advocates for a better police screening process, as well as better city leaders. Nimoya also believes, however, that the community can begin to improve its relationship with the police by acting with respect towards officers.
