This 18th century reenactment features activities that re-create the life and trades of the pre-Revolutionary War era. Kids will enjoy the hands-on-history play camp. This focus show spotlights the life and career of Mexican artist and archaeologist Miguel Covarrubias (1904–1957), who took New York by storm as one of the main contributors to Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. The exhibition focuses on John and Alice Garrett’s 1932–33 commission of Covarrubias to paint a series of panel paintings depicting cities where the former Ambassador had held diplomatic posts, and the patronage relationship that developed through the exchange of sketches and letters.

On Friday, October 15, the Maryland Athletic Club & Wellness Center in Timonium will be spinning with excitement at the fifth annual Ride for Hope. From 5:30-8:30 p.m., participants will work up a sweat doing high energy spinning while raising money for the Tyanna Barre O’Brien Breast Cancer Foundation. Participants can donate $50 to rent a bike by the hour or $150 for all three hours. A ‘Stuff Your Bra’ sponsorship is also available, offering gift packages including t-shirts, raffle tickets and a grand prize. Last year, Ride for Hope at the MAC raised over $11,000.

Approximately 1,500 runners, walkers and family members will gather for a morning of fitness and fun, while supporting the Baltimore County Police Athletic League (PAL) and Maryland Freestate ChalleNGe Academy. ARTWORKS STUDIO TOUR CONTINUES TO GROW Artworks Annual Studio Tour enters its 11th year…bigger and better than ever. 50 artists, the most ever for the tour, from Galena, Worton, Chestertown, Church Hill and Rock Hall will open their studios to the public on October 30-31 and November 6-7, rain or shine, 10am-5pm. This self guided tour will cover a full range of work, including, painting, photography, sculpture, metal work, pottery, fiber woodcraft, jewelry, furniture, glass and more. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see and shop for original artwork at studio prices.

Sales benefit Hopital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti The Park School Parents’ Association will host The Art of Haiti to benefit the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer (HAS). Works from the collection of the Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer will be on display in Park’s Library Gallery and Middle School Commons November 3-5, with a benefit sale scheduled for the evening of Thursday, November 4. The art, representative of a variety of Haitian styles and regions, ranges in price from $50-$1500. Traditional Haitian foods and music will also be featured.

St. Peter’s and St. Alban’s Episcopal Churches are sponsoring a six-week Study of Judaism beginning Nov. 4th, 2010. This will be presented in both morning and evening sessions. St. Peter’s, 115 St. Peter’s Street, will host the morning sessions on Thursdays at 7:30 AM starting November 4th. The morning sessions will continue through December 9th, but will NOT meet on Thanksgiving day. The evening sessions will be held at St. Alban's, 302 St. Alban’s Drive, on Mondays at 7:00 PM, beginning on November 15th and running until December 20th.
