Bob Heck

A.K.A. "Bob The Vid Tech"

Bob the Vid TechBob Heck – with his distinctive green jacket, snazzy ties, and purple shirt – has served as Maryland Public Television's super-enthusiastic children's host BOB THE VID TECH since 1992. Every day, Bob appears between MPT's regularly scheduled children's programs to impart short educational lessons on a variety of topics including numbers, letters, shapes, sharing, art and music.

Due in part to Bob's incredible comic versatility – he often plays multiple characters in the same scene – he's been honored eight times with the Capital Region Emmy - Award Host/Interviewer/ Moderator from 1999 to 2005 and Acting/Performing/Announcing in 1996.

Bob and BriannaHis half-hour VID KID programs have also received multiple Emmy nominations, and his producers Frank Batavick and Jonathan Slade won Capital Emmys for Outstanding Children's Special and Interstitials in 1995, 1996, 2000, 2003 and 2004.

Traveling the Mid-Atlantic region as a goodwill ambassador, Bob also regularly appear at festivals, malls, and special events to meet young children and their families and to perform the 30-minute live theatrical production, "The Vid Kid Road Show."

For more than 20 years, Bob has worked as a stand-up comic, impressionist, actor, emcee, and musician in theater, film, and television. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his family.
