THINGS TO DO BEFORE WATCHING

  • Think about these questions:
    • Do you like to read? Why? Why not?
    • Do you have a favorite book? Why do you like it?
    • People often say that families are their children's first and best teachers. What kinds of things have you taught your children?
    • How did you learn to read? Who helped you? Was it difficult or easy for you?
    • In your opinion, why is it important to read?

You may want to talk about these questions with other people in your family.

  • Make a list of the things in your home that:
    • You read every day.
    • You would read if you had enough time.
    • Your children could read
    • Your children might use to help them learn to read

Keep the list to use after you watch the video.
