Children learn by trying things out, not simply by seeing something done. After you turn the television off, follow up what you just watched with related Ready to Grow activities. This "doing" helps kids get the most out of their viewing.

You'll receive your own set of child-centered activities in the Ready to Grow Resource Kit when you attend a low-cost Ready to Grow workshop and explore meaningful new ways to extend children's public television in your setting.

Ready to Grow activities provide food for both body and mind by:

Giving kids an outlet for their energy through exercise, music, drama, and art.
Encouraging children to explore their surroundings.
Reinforcing important social skills like how to be caring, respectful, responsible, and fair.

Themes include:
Science and Discovery – Adventures in math and science
Smart TV – Encouraging media awareness
The World Around Me – Developing social skills

In My Own Words
– Fun with language arts
