Viewing with your child
- Make a regular appointment to watch TV with your child. Set aside your chores and enjoy a program together.
- Be an active viewer! If something in a show fascinates you, point it out. If it puzzles you, talk it through. And if you want to laugh go right ahead. The more you interact with a program, the more your child will learn to do the same.
- Stop now and again to ask your child for comments or questions, just as you would if you were reading aloud.
- Encourage your child to talk about the characters and their actions. What choices did they make? Why? Would your child have done the same thing in their shoes?
- Ask for predictions: What will happen next? How will the program end?
