Smart TV Viewing with your child Make a regular appointment to watch TV with your child. Set aside your chores and enjoy a program together. Be an active viewer! If something in a show fascinates you, point it out. If it puzzles you, talk it through. And if you want to laugh – go right ahead. The more you interact with a program, the more your child will learn to do the same. Stop now and again to ask your child for comments or questions, just as you would if you were reading aloud. Encourage your child to talk about the characters and their actions. What choices did they make? Why? Would your child have done the same thing in their shoes? Ask for predictions: What will happen next? How will the program end? Don't worry if you don't have the answers to all of your child's questions. Write them down on a piece of paper. Once the program has ended, you can hunt for the solutions together.
