Introducing Cyberchase!
Cyberchase
is an animated show for children ages 8-11 that makes
math fun! Three earth kids Jackie, Matt, and Inez are
recruited by Motherboard, a benevolent and visionary
leader, to thwart the dastardly villain Hacker, in his
mad quest to take over the cyber-world. In each episode
the kids take on a thrilling adventure driven by a different
math concept -- from tackling time in ancient Egyptian
tombs to making sense of numbers in a fractured fairy
tale world. In their quest, these everyday kids use
math and brain power to solve problems. Each episode
ends with a catchy live-action segment that explores
the show's topic in the real world.
Cyberchase meets the math standards set by the National
Council of Teachers in Math while helping kids recognize
that math is useful to them outside the classroom.
How can you help your children "Do Math, Cyberchase
Style"?
- By 'talking math'
- By building a 'can-do' attitude, using everyday
math experiences to develop their self-confidence
and problem-solving skills
- By showing kids that 'being wrong' can lead
to 'being right' if we talk about it
- And by modeling persistence and excitement
when using math.
