Numbers Alive! is a new video- based project that's built around the concept of developing number sense. Mathematics educators say that successful mathematics students have sense of numbers. Having number sense means knowing what numbers mean and how they work together. And once you know that, you can use them in any setting, from the classroom to the world.

There is a wealth of project materials--not only for students in grades four through eight--but also for their teachers and families. There are ten student videos, a family math video, and plenty of materials to help teachers integrate Numbers Alive! into their curricula.

In the student videos, you'll meet Beyond Zero, a rock band on the rise. BZ's touring the country to promote their new CD. Along the way, they use their number sense to solve all kinds of problems--from feeding an unexpectedly large crowd at a birthday party for their tutor--to finding lost gold at a ghost town in Montana. We're hoping you'll all join their Fan Club.
