For the first time our Best Eco-Friendly award goes to a pair of big SUVs, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, and GMC Yukon Hybrid. Finally a strong hybrid system where it is needed most, on a full-size size utility. GM's new two Mode system provides electric boost both around town and at interstate speeds. Add in fuel saving cylinder deactivation, low mass aluminum hood and tailgate, and smoother aerodynamics, and the results are 50% better fuel economy around town, and a 25% boost overall. Plus it can still tow 3-tons. The Tahoe and Yukon Hybrids prove that greening up is not a matter of size.
