Eyes on the Prize October 2, 9, 16, 2006
The first part of the series, Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Years, 1954 to 1965, will be aired this October on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th in two-hour blocks. Combining historic footage and latter-day interviews with Civil Rights participants, this documentary covers events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on Washington, and the Selma-to-Montgomery March for voting rights. The second part of the series, Eyes on the Prize: America at the Crossroads, 1965 to 1985, will be broadcast at a later date. The series won several Emmys, Peabodys, and the DuPont-Columbia Gold Baton. Additionally, MPT with Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, located in Baltimore, will be holding a series of discussions surrounding Eyes, entitled The Prize Then, The Prize Now: A Community Forum on Civil Rights History and Horizons, featuring portions of the series and area leaders and individuals who have faced the challenge of civil rights in their lives. The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture has a permanent exhibit on Civil Rights history, as well as an ongoing Oral History Project.
