Remaking American Medicine: Health Care for the 21st Century
October 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2006
Remaking American Medicine (RAM) is a campaign to help ensure Medicare recipients are receiving the highest quality care possible, encouraging community-based activity in Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) throughout the country. As part of the outreach campaign, PBS broadcasts RAM, the four-part documentary series, produced by Crosskeys Media, during the month of October to foster public interest.
Throughout the fall, the series will be screened at hospitals and nursing homes around the area and will be followed by discussions. Each part of the series will feature individual doctors, nurses, administrators, and patients who are striving for the betterment of care. Medical errors, hospital-acquired infections, chronic diseases such as diabetes, and the development of patient-doctor bonds will be chronicled from places close to home like Johns Hopkins to places farther away-Pennsylvania, Georgia, and LA.
The Maryland RAM coalition, led by MPT, is partnering with a number of local organizations, including Delmarva Foundation, MD Hospital Association, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, American Heart Association, Voices for Quality Care, and MD Department of Aging, to provide public discussion opportunities about improving health care in MD.
