About Your Money & Business

Your Money & Business is Maryland's only business program that puts the focus on you, the consumer. Settle in with host Jeff Salkin as he introduces you to leaders from some of the best-known companies in the region; travel with Yolanda Vazquez to out-of-the-way, quirky businesses in our Made in Maryland segments; improve your consumer IQ with insights from business journalists at the Baltimore Sun and experts from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Jeff Salkin
News Anchor, Maryland Public Television

Jeff Salkin is a Maryland native with over thirty years' experience as a broadcast journalist at television and radio stations in the Baltimore and Washington markets.

He joined Maryland Public Television (MPT) in 1991 and has become one of the most respected and recognizable journalists on the local public affairs scene. During his tenure with MPT he has served as moderator for political debates, hosted live coverage of the annual 'State of the State' address, inaugurals, and numerous broadcast town hall meetings, and has anchored MPT's weekly State Circle broadcast during the Maryland General Assembly session each year.

As MPT's executive producer of Bloomberg Morning News, a weekday financial news report that aired in the 1990s, Mr. Salkin helped create and launch the program. It was a co-production of MPT and Bloomberg L.P. and was syndicated nationally to PBS stations.

In 2001, he began serving as anchor for Maryland Public Television's weeknight program, Direct Connection with Jeff Salkin, a community affairs interview show that made its debut on October 1 of that year.

He is an alumnus of Baltimore's Gilman School and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Salkin resides in Howard County with his wife and three daughters.

Yolanda Vazquez

In the Made in Maryland segments, Yolanda Vazquez travels the region bringing viewers an inside and personal look at businesses around Maryland-from the unique and quirky to the popular and established.

Vazquez is an award-winning reporter with more than 10 years experience in the television broadcast industry working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Her diverse work has led to her extensive knowledge and understanding of the broadcast journalism field.

In addition to Your Money & Business, Vazquez serves as a reporter/producer for MPT's MotorWeek. Her work for MPT also included a six-year stint as a correspondent for Direct Connection.

Prior to her work at MPT, Vazquez served as an on-air talent for Fox 35 News in Orlando, Florida. She also worked in Orlando as a general assignment reporter as well as working in the public relations field. Vazquez has also served as a freelance reporter for WJZ-TV in Baltimore.
