MPT partners with the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) to raise awareness of the upcoming THE HOLLOW CROWN series, foster enthusiasm for Shakespeare's work at the local level, and engage and build new audiences for public media and the performing arts in creative and innovative ways.
Debuting on September 20, 2013, THE HOLLOW CROWN is a lavish new series bringing new life to four of William Shakespeare's best-loved history plays: Richard II, Henry IV, Parts I and II, and Henry V. It marks the first time these plays have been seen on PBS since the epic BBC Shakespeare Plays series in the early 1980s. The series features some of the most pre-eminent Shakespearean actors of our time--Ben Whishaw, Jeremy Irons, and Tom Hiddleston are supported by a phenomenal cast including Rory Kinnear, Patrick Stewart, David Suchet, David Morrissey, Simon Russell Beale, Michelle Dockery, Julie Walters, Maxine Peake, John Hurt, and more. THE HOLLOW CROWN airs on MPT on Fridays at 10:00 pm, September 20 through October 11, 2013. More info and synopses here.
