Episode Description

  • Bowles Farm in Saint Mary’s County draws thousands of people each year for a race featuring...lawnmowers. But that’s not the only thing this 6,000-acre farm has to offer—there’s a corn maze, cupcake shop, and somehow, the farmers have time to raise 4,500 acres of grain.
  • While Frederick County dairy farmer Julie Mayer spends most of her time tending to her farm, every other Friday she takes a dip into something different—scuba diving. She says her time diving has given her a unique perspective when it comes to reducing the environmental impact of her farm.
  • The Luthy family has been farming in Dorchester County for more than a century. But after all this time, they’ve still managed to stay in contact with their farming relatives in Switzerland.
  • The Local Buy: Al Spoler bites into an apple that can only be found at one local farming operation—the Spencerville Red.
  • Then & Now: Maryland Apples
