His credits as Executive Producer include SECRETS OF..., WILDGYDE, THE FRUGAL GOURMET, COOKING IN CONCERT, COOKING WITH MASTER CHEFS hosted by Julia Child, SAVING THE WILDLIFE (one of the most watched PBS programs of all times), RETURN OF THE GREAT WHALES, ANTARCTICA: THE LOST CONTINENT, COMEDY TONIGHT, NEW YORK MASTER CHEFS and other major national programs.
He has been responsible for the production of single programs and series on subjects ranging from cooking to the US Constitution. These have won numerous awards for television excellence including dozens of Emmys, three Peabody Awards, the Polk award, the DuPont/Columbia award, and many others. While at KQED, he created the Product Offer Clearinghouse, which markets over half a million program-related books and tapes per year via toll-free telephone. Under his leadership, station audiences more than doubled and membership revenue increased by 500%.
Prior to joining KQED, Katzman was founder and President of Research & Programming Services Corporation, a company specializing in audience and programming analyses and television scheduling consultation. He began his professional career after receiving his doctorate from the Institute of Communications Research at Stanford University.
