Business Connection brings Marylanders the facts on the stateŭs economic development and helps them make informed decisions on finance and business. Every Thursday, MPT joins with The Baltimore and Washington Business Journals to cover breaking local financial stories, interview regional financial experts, businessmen, and local investors; profile local businesses, and report on the latest developments on Wall Street.

The Buzz features Jeff Salkin talking regional economic issues with expert guests such as Anirban Basu, senior economist at RESI, Research & Consulting, Towson University. Viewers can participate in The Buzz discussion by phone call or email.
Jeff joined Maryland Public Television (MPT) in 1991 and has become one of the most respected and recognizable journalists on the local public affairs scene. For several years, he produced and anchored MPT's newsbreaks during primetime broadcast hours.
As MPT's executive producer of Bloomberg Morning News, a weekday morning financial news report that aired in the late 1990s, Mr. Salkin used his prior experience as manager of media services for the Nasdaq Stock Market to help create and launch the program. It was a co-production of MPT and Bloomberg L.P. and was syndicated nationally to PBS stations. Later he served as an anchor for MPT's Newsnigbt Maryland public affairs program that aired from 1997 to 2001. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Salkin was host of the weekly, Emmy award-winning public affairs program Inside Maryland.
Prior to joining MPT, Mr. Salkin worked as a news reporter for commercial television stations WBAL, WJZ, and WJLA in the Baltimore-Washington area.
He is an alumnus of Baltimore's Gilman School and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Salkin resides in Howard County with his wife and three daughters.

From the unique and quirky to the popular and established—Yolanda Vazquez will travel the region bringing viewers an inside and personal look at businesses around Maryland.
Yolanda Vazquez is an award-winning reporter with more than 10 years experience in the television broadcast industry working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Her diverse work has led to her extensive knowledge and understanding of the broadcast journalism field.
In addition to Business Connection, Vazquez serves as a reporter/producer for MPT's MotorWeek. Her work for MPT also included a six-year stint as a correspondent for Direct Connection.
Prior to her work at MPT, Vazquez served as an on-air talent for Fox 35 News in Orlando, Florida. She also worked in Orlando as a general assignment reporter as well as working in the public relations field. Vazquez has also served as a freelance reporter for WJZ-TV in Baltimore.
She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in television film and production. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Women in Film & Television and the Association of Black Media Workers.
