Stem Cell Research Debate
The fight over stem cells made headlines recently when Bill Frist switched over in support of funding research. Here in Maryland, a debate was waged as well last year in the legislature. Sen. Paula Hollinger, a nurse, introduced a bill to kick in local funds for research. Opposition was led by the legislature's only doctor, Senator Andy Harris. The bill was never brought up for a vote, but will certainly re-emerge next year.
