Deathwatch - Part 1 On his deathbed in an East End nursing home, Harry Newman confesses to 12 separate 'unauthorised killings'. There are puzzling battle scars and tattoos on his body, and it doesn't take long for Frankie to realise that Newman has been murdered. Is there a connection to the confession? The team embarks on a very unusual investigation, to discover the facts surrounding the deaths of each of the names on Newman's list. The victums all appear to have died violently during the 1960s and 70s. The victums were the jury on the famous Miller's Wharf trial during which Charlie Sutton, a gangster, was found guilty of killing two policemen and was hanged. Was Newman a hit man hired by someone to kill the jury out of revenge, perhaps?

He is now Boyd's prime suspect and he goes after him in earnest. Not only has Beatty's two children die in mysterious circumstances, but his wife, Lady Alice, has suspected him of having something to do with their deaths. She confirms Sir James has been having an affair with Reed, and she wasn't the first. Following further investigation, Reed was actually a lesbian and having a long term relationship with Lorna Gyles. Boyd arrests Sir James, only to find he has an air-tight alibi, his secretary, Ann with who has been is mistress for many years. It is revealed he has had a vasectomy 15 years earlier. It is discovered that Reed was receiving fertility treatment from Lady Alice. Lady Alice had murdered Reed and her children, as a means of preventing her husband from leaving her. Planting her husband's semen in Reed was easy as a cover up - only needed to alert the authorites and he would be suspected of murder. The team rush to arrest Lady Alice, only to find she had gone to the hospital where Ann, her husband's mistress, is recovering from her suicide attempt.
