Island Gateway: Janes Island, often called the Caribbean of the Chesapeake, offers visitors tent camping and cabins, canoe and kayak rentals boat slips and a dock area. Fishing and crabbing are favorite adventures here as well as Park Quest -- a wildly successful program to create good old fashioned outdoor fun for the whole family. Schooner Schooling: This nearly perfect reproduction of an 18th century schooner called The Sultana was largely financed and built by the citizens of Chestertown, MD to become a floating classroom for children throughout the State. Any Given Sunday: Teams of hunters and their canine companions compete in the annual Retriever Gun-Dog Championship sponsored by the Maryland Waterfowler's Association which tests dogs in situations they'd likely encounter on a typical hunt.

Half of this ecosystem still remaining in the Eastern U.S. is here in Maryland at Soldiers Delight. Home Again: Iraq War Veterans who have been badly wounded in action often come home to find they can no longer pursue one of the things they love most---hunting. Now, thanks to a new training program in Maryland, these handicapped vets are able to once again enjoy the outdoors in ways they remember before losing limbs while serving in Iraq. Mountain Steam: Join us for a ride back in time on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. On the weekends the train is pulled by Mountain Thunder, a steam locomotive and operates between Cumberland and Frostburg. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride while experiencing the natural beauty of Allegany County.
