MPT Travel
Club in Italy
MPT's trip to sunny Italy was just that...sunny, sunny, sunny. The weather was perfect, the sights amazing and the friendships developed many. Fellow travelers enjoyed Pompeii, the Isle of Capri, Sorrento, Assisi, Venice, Florence, Siena and Rome. And all this happened in twelve fun-packed days.
One MPT Traveler, Marge Greene, posed for this picture in Pompeii where our local guide described what life was like before the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
Our group spent two nights on the Isle of Capri, once a playground for the early Romans, it is still enjoyed by visitors today. This tropical island is dotted with small villas in the middle of the Bay of Sorrento. The blue water meets the sunny skies and warm gentle breezes always seem to be flowing...it was like paradise!
Venice was amazing. Gondolas and small boats traveled up and down the many narrow waterways that helped connect the many people of an ancient city. Once you arrived at your destination, people gathered to talk, eat or just relax by enjoying good music.
It was hard to believe that we walked in the same footsteps as St. Francis in the quaint town of Assisi. This was the town where he was born and preached throughout his life.
We actually saw one of the wonders of the modern world, the leaning tower of Pisa! It is rumored that Galileo conducted experiments on the laws of gravity by dropping small objects from its top. And, the Cathedral actually is home to the lamp that Galileo studied by when he developed his theory regarding the rotation of the earth.
It's true...Italy is beautiful, the food delicious and every Italian seems to have a beautiful voice. After all, it's Italy Bellissimo and MPT travelers got to experience it first hand.
