The Queen's Visit to the U.S.A.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, visited the United States from May 3-8, 2007. The Queen began her tour at Jamestown, Virginia, the site of the first permanent English colony in America, to help celebrate the 400th anniversary of its founding. Her Majesty was also able to indulge a private interest, her love of horse racing, by attending the Kentucky Derby.
On May 7, the Queen attended a Garden Party at the residence of the British Ambassador to the United States in Washington, DC. Afternoon Tea's very own Heather Sanderson was thrilled and fortunate enough to be invited to this event, and she attended happily. Heather shares her experience at the Garden Party through the exclusive online video presented below, along with images of her invitation and the official program for the afternoon's festivities. Enjoy!
