Student Contributions to the Veterans History Project

The Veterans History Project encourages students (grades 10-12 work best) to become involved. The VHP has a section of their website devoted to encouraging educators and students to participate in the VHP, with sample materials and guidelines to help young volunteers get started:

College Park Aviation Museum Involves Teens
in Veterans History Project

The College Park Aviation Museum, an official Maryland Veterans History Project partner, encourages teens to volunteer to help with veteran interviews at the Museum. Teens set up and operate the video cameras and audio equipment as well as assist the veterans in filling out their forms and organizing their photographs and document submissions. (Adults usually conduct the veteran interviews.)

Students volunteer to earn community service hours, or simply for the fun of it. Teachers can also contact the CPAM to arrange student participation in veteran interviews as a class-wide project.

To volunteer for the Veterans History Project, or to ask questions about how your students can get involved, email the Museum at aviationmuseum@pgparks.com. You may also call 301-864-6029 or stop by the Museum any day from 10 am-5 pm. (except major holidays).

For more detailed information about the College Park Aviation Museum's Veterans History Project interviews, visit www.pgparks.com/places/historic/cpam/vets.html.
