Maryland Cycling Classic: Part 3
World-class professional cycling in Baltimore with the best cyclists around the world.
World-class professional cycling is showcased in Baltimore, Maryland with the best cyclists from around the World featuring Tour de France participants, World Champions, National Champions, Olympians and cycling heroes from 30 countries. The Maryland Cycling Classic, America’s Top One-Day Pro Cycling Race, is a UCI ProSeries one-day international cycling race sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and USA Cycling.
The 2025 Maryland Cycling Classic takes place Sept. 4-6 and will be filled with many opportunities for the community to be engaged in a unique way with free participatory events and an interactive festival with local flavor while watching the world’s best cyclists from around the world compete for the Maryland Cycling Classic champion jersey.
MPT Cycling Classic Coverage
Maryland Public Television will again serve as the exclusive regional broadcaster of the Maryland Cycling Classic taking place in Baltimore on Saturday, September 6. MPT will offer viewers up to nine hours of live coverage of the prestigious professional cycling race on MPT-HD, the MPT livestream, and the free PBS app.
MPT’s Maryland Cycling Classic coverage begins at 8 a.m. with a 30-minute preview show prior to the women’s race, featuring sports broadcaster Jim Hunter anchoring the MPT Sports Desk from Owings Mills. MPT reporters Sue Kopen, Nancy Yamada, and Charles Robinson will offer features on the women’s race and a local bike event, while former professional champion road-racing cyclist Fred “Fast Freddie” Rodriguez and other special guests will join in from the course to offer pre-race analysis and insights.
MPT will broadcast the women’s race starting at 8:30 a.m. Live coverage will continue through the men’s race winner crossing the finish line and the podium award ceremony, which is estimated to take place around 4:30 p.m. The network’s coverage will wrap up with a post-race MPT Sports Desk segment.

Oliver "Butch" Martin was the second black person to represent the USA in cycling at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics.
US champions and brothers, Justin and Cory Williams race hard and win on the track. They created L39ion of Los Angeles to help encourage and inspire more people of color to pick up the sport.
Rahsaan Bahati is a professional cyclist, 10-time US cycling champion, and philanthropist. After dominating the sport of cycling, he made it his mission to give back to the community and inspire the next world champions to ride.
